I have created a worksheet with one of each type of editing mistake that might be tested on the STAAR 4th grade writing test.

Suggested uses:

•  With teacher then without teacher.  You will need two copies for this.
•  Without teacher with partners then check with teacher.
•  As a morning drill
•  Around the Room Activity:  Cut out enlarged questions and tape around the room.  Students find the mistake and write on notebook paper.   Have a station where they stop and check their work after they have completed 5 problems.   Students go back and put a tally mark on an index card by each question missed so teacher can make a swift assessment as to how and what to reteach.
•   Game (included)  Cut out sentence cards and place in stack between two groups.  One group pulls a card and works together to orally find the mistake.  Meanwhile the other group has the answer sheet.  Once the opposing team tells them what number they are answering, the team with the answers can tell if the problem is correct.  If they get the right answer, then that team can keep the card. STAAR Editing Game  (same questions as the WS)
